Job description

Job Title: Lifeguard

Job Summary: Lifeguards are responsible for providing personal and exceptional guest service, ensuring guest safety, and enforcing all park rules. Lifeguards are expected to quickly respond to all emergencies and provide medical care as trained. In addition, all lifeguards will be expected to work as a team to sustain a clean, safe, and welcoming water park for guests.

Job Responsibilities:

  • A few lifeguards prepare the park for daily opening: double-checking all areas for trash or left behind items, cleaning and preparing the cabanas for rental, vacuuming the lazy river, inflating any deflated tubes, putting up all umbrellas, leaf blowing debris and filling up lifeguard coolers with ice and water.
  • Rotate positions during shift to observe park guests and ensure safety.
  • Care to minor injuries, such as insect stings, small cuts, nose bleeds and bruises.
  • Respond to emergency action plan when required.
  • Must know and correctly enforce inclement weather policy.
  • Enforce ride rules for the safety of all guests.
  • Inform head lifeguards or managers about unresolved guest disputes.
  • Exemplify a positive attitude, attention to detail and consistent work ethic.
  • Helps maintain a positive, safe, and professional working environment and helps make every guest's experience better.
  • All lifeguards help perform pool closing duties: stacking up the slide and river tubes in their designated areas, reorganizing lifejackets, cleaning up any trash left in all areas, putting down umbrellas and resetting the lounge furniture.

Education/Experience:

  • Attending high school.
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR Certificate.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires long period of sitting, standing, and water contact.
  • Must be able to lift 20+ lbs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Must have the knowledge of water rescue methods, lifeguarding, first-aid practices and techniques, and possess the ability to carry out water rescues.
  • Must have patience with children and adults.
  • Must be on time and correctly dressed for all work shifts.
  • Must attend in-service training during summer months.
  • Must be available for scheduled work on weekends, or holidays.

Safety:

  • Promote and practice safe work practices at all times.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed.
  • Adhere to company, state and federal safety standards and regulations.
