Job Description:

Location: Hybrid

The Specialty Skills Associate on the Controls and Unique Skills team plays a key role in supporting Advisors, Clients, and internal business partners with Life and Health Insurance products. Our team specializes in managing unique and often complex requests, ensuring they are processed accurately, efficiently, and within established service standards. In addition to delivering exceptional service, we proactively manage system controls, identify and resolve issues, mitigate operational risk, and support process improvements that enhance the client and advisor experience while maintaining operational integrity.

What will you do?

  • Process client, advisor, system, and control-related work daily, managing priorities effectively to meet service standards.
  • Deliver exceptional service to Advisors and Clients by demonstrating professionalism, responsiveness, and a commitment to doing what is right.
  • Develop and apply knowledge of Traditional Life, Universal Life, and Health Insurance products, both past and current, across multiple legacy platforms and companies, including Sun Life, Clarica, MetLife, and Prudential.
  • Use strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills to deliver high-quality results efficiently.
  • Monitor and manage system controls, investigate exceptions, identify root causes, and take appropriate action to resolve issues.
  • Apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to identify risks, close process gaps, and recommend improvements.
  • Leverage digital tools, automation, and AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency, enhance decision-making, and support continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal partners to support business objectives and improve operational outcomes.

  • Experience in the life insurance industry, with knowledge of Traditional Life and Universal Life Insurance products.
  • Ability to quickly learn and navigate multiple systems, applications, and business processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to connect information, identify trends, and investigate issues.
  • Curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset, with a willingness to challenge existing processes and identify better ways of working.
  • Ability to self-motivate, self direct and work independently in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability for delivering accurate, timely, and high-quality work.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative and respectful approach to teamwork.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and expanding knowledge of products, systems, controls, and business processes.

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance. Certain sales focused roles have sales incentive plans based on individual or group sales results.
