Job description

Overview:
At Securian Financial, we measure success not only in financial terms but in the strength of our people. We are seeking a dynamic Internal Wholesaler to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our Individual Life Insurance product suite, with a strong focus on Long-Term Care (LTC) solutions.
This role is ideal for a high-energy professional who thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and is passionate about helping clients protect what matters most. You will collaborate with diverse channel partners, provide technical and creative sales support, and lead marketing and implementation efforts to drive growth. This position requires availability during core business hours to engage with advisors and partners effectively.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external distribution teams, agents, and brokers to educate, position, and promote LTC solutions within our Individual Life portfolio.

  • Act as the primary SME for current and future life insurance and LTC products/riders.

  • Conduct competitive research and partner with Enterprise Marketing to develop impactful marketing materials.

  • Identify and create sales opportunities through proactive outreach (inbound and outbound calls).

  • Collaborate with external wholesalers to expand distribution and schedule strategic meetings.

  • Profile new advisor relationships to target high-potential prospects.

  • Deliver compelling sales and marketing concepts to intermediaries and advisors.

  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, providing accurate product information and guidance.

  • Analyze competitive data to position Securian products favorably in the marketplace.

  • Utilize technology and tools to track activities, manage requests, and maintain advisor profiles.

  • Prepare proposals and run product illustrations to support sales efforts.

Qualifications:
  • Personable, energetic, and passionate about sales, with persistence and resilience to succeed.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and persuasion skills for delivering effective presentations.

  • Technical proficiency with spreadsheets and sales-related software.

  • Experience in sales or product marketing within a B2B or corporate setting.

  • MN Life/Health Insurance License is required. If you do not have an active license, you must obtain it quickly after starting (within 3 months).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • FINRA Series 6 and 63 licenses (or willingness to obtain); fingerprinting and background checks required.

  • Experience selling financial products and knowledge of the Individual Life marketplace, including state and federal regulations.

  • Familiarity with long-term care insurance or linked benefits.

  • Bachelor's degree in Sales, Finance, or related field.

The estimated base pay range for this job is:
$51,000 - $69,000
Base pay may vary depending on job-related factors and individual experience, skills, knowledge, etc. This job also includes sales-based incentive opportunity resulting in target total cash compensation of $86,000 - $104,000. Actual total cash compensation earned will be based on sales results. More information on base pay and sales-based incentive pay can be discussed with a member of the Securian Financial Talent Acquisition team.
