Position Summary We are seeking a Claims Specialist to manage the end-to-end life insurance claims process while providing exceptional customer service to policyholders, agents, funeral homes, and internal stakeholders. This role is responsible for reviewing claim documentation, calculating claim benefits, processing payments, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with policy provisions and applicable regulations. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities Claims Administration Manage the complete life insurance claims process from claim initiation through payment. Collect and review required documentation, including proofs of death and supporting claim information. Calculate claim benefits in accordance with policy provisions and state regulations.

Prepare claim files, supporting documentation, and claim processing records. Verify claim payments and prepare journal entries for Accounting approval. Process policy terminations and update policy administration systems with claim information.

Maintain accurate electronic claim files and support audit readiness. Update claims tracking documentation and pending claims reports. Follow up on outstanding documentation to ensure timely claim resolution.

Customer Service Respond to inquiries from policyholders, agents, funeral homes, and beneficiaries regarding claims. Calculate and communicate claim benefits and policy information. Answer the main customer service line and provide professional, timely support.

Conduct policy research and resolve customer questions accurately. Deliver a high level of customer service while handling sensitive situations with professionalism and empathy. Compliance & Quality Ensure claims are processed in accordance with policy provisions and applicable state regulations.

Conduct claim investigations and assist with recommendations regarding policy rescissions when appropriate. Maintain complete, accurate documentation supporting all claim decisions. Support internal audits and quality assurance initiatives.

Qualifications Associate's degree or equivalent work experience required. Previous experience in financial services required. 3-5 years of life insurance claims or policy administration experience preferred.

LOMA coursework or certification is a plus. Strong clerical skills with exceptional attention to detail. Experience with data entry and claims processing.

Excellent customer service and telephone communication skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities. Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Ideal Candidate Profile Detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with complex documentation and financial transactions.
