Summary:
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Life Skill Coach Support Staff provides direct care, supervision, and support to our youth living in a residential group home setting. This role focuses on promoting a safe, structured and nurturing environment while helping residents develop life skills, emotional regulation and positive behaviors.
The Life Skills Coach will provide secure, safe, supportive, consistent care to youth while educating the youth with life skills and health day to day practices. The Life Skills Coach will be interacting with other Ho-Chunk Nation facilities and employees on a daily basis. This will foster the wrap around services for our youth in the program. The Life skills coach shall ensure the youth in the group home program are able to attain the life skills, knowledge, and abilities to transition into adulthood in a positive way. A Life Skills Coach is a mentor or a coach who through their lived experience can provide the guidance and education to our youth in this program to promote wellness, develop self-esteem, cultural awareness, and insight necessary to transition into adulthood. The Life Skills coach shall possess the following qualities; patience, empathy, consistency, structure, supportive, active listening skills and communication, positive role modeling, flexibility, adaptability, stress management, modeling self-care and encourages independence with our youth in the program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION:
1. High school diploma or GED is required.
2. Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology or related field.
ESSENTIAL:
1. Must pass background check.
2. Must pass a drug test.
3. Valid driver's license.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Experience working with youth, especially in residential, behavioral or social services settings preferred.
2. Preferred working experience in residential, behavioral, or social services settings.
