Provides support for Library programs by designing, preparing promotional materials, monthly book displays, and setting up and cleaning up program spaces, and assisting during events.
Ability to work under pressure with few mistakes. Exceptional customer service must be a high priority. Performs related duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience High School Diploma, or equivalent. Minimum of one year of customer service experience. Minimum of six months working in a public or school library OR earned a minimum of 4 credit hours from an accredited college or university in Library Science or a related field.
Ability to work hours other than the regular daytime schedule, such as mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Required Certificates and Licenses Must have First Aid and CPR/AED certification within six months of hire date. Preferred Qualifications Active/current First Aid and CPR/AED certifications.
Ability to speak Spanish. Experience working for a government entity, such as a city, county, or state. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to learn municipal library operations, library technology systems, and the Dewey Decimal System.
Ability to organize and maintain a large number of various types of library materials. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions.
Ability to communicate with other employees and the public in a courteous and diplomatic manner. Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing. Analyze situations and adopt quick, effect, and reasonable courses of action.
Ability to work hours other than the regular daytime schedule such as mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Knowledge of writing with proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar. Skill in using computers and related software applications.
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with City employees, the public, elected officials, and boards and commissions. Physical Demands & Additional Information While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle items, reach with hands and arms, kneel, talk, and hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
