INTRODUCTION:

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services. 


We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Security Guard at the public library
  • Ensuring access control is followed and client property is secured, escorting visitors as needed
  • Escorting trespassers off property (high unhoused population in and around building, must be comfortable with these sorts of interactions)
  • Washroom checks, paraphernalia checks
  • Maintaining positive attitude and professional working relationships with employees, visitors and clients
  • Maintaining high standards of personal appearance and deportment
  • Responding to alarms and utilization of alarm panels
  • Completing daily logs and written reports as necessary
  • Ability to walk/stand for a longer period of time, consistently patrolling 4 floors of library and outside
  • Other duties as may be required by the client or site supervisor

  • Ability to speak/read/communicate in English (fluently), ability to speak French is consider an asset
  • Able to multi-task and work well with little to no supervision
