Description
Serve as an undergraduate student assistant in the Pace Zine Library (PZL)
The Pace University Zine Library is seeking to hire two work-study students to participate in staffing the PZL for regular hours each week; promoting the collection on social media, on campus, and in the NYC community; and cataloging new materials in our spreadsheet. This is an opportunity for students interested in library science, archives, and/or marketing to learn experientially about the day-to-day operations of running a small academic library or special collection. They will help develop the collection, as well.
Responsibilities will include many applied research activities:
  • Be present in PZL for weekly, scheduled hours (to be determined based on student's schedule) to introduce visitors to the library's holdings and features.

  • Strengthen the PZL social media by creating research-based Instagram stories, reels, and posts and possibly experiment with TikTok.

  • Catalog new additions to the PZL (we will provide training)

Requirements
  • Successful applicants will have these skills and dispositions:
    • Must be Work Study eligible

    • Enthusiasm and curiosity about the world of zines and other independent, micro, and self-publications

    • Carefulness (handling materials), self-motivation, and excitement to work closely with library staff and faculty

    • Excellent, prompt email and outstanding verbal communication skills are essential

    • Experience with social media storytelling, particularly on Instagram, is a plus
