Job description

**This position is only available to current Palmer College of Chiropractic students

Function:ย 

  • The work-study position is responsible for assuring patron assistance.ย ย 

Organizational Relationshipย 

  • Responsible to the Branch Manager Librarian, Senior Director of Library Services and the Dean of Academic Affairs for successful performance of assigned duties.ย ย 

Specific Duties and Responsibilitiesย 

  • Check books/AV/reserve items in and out via automated/manual systems
  • Push in chairs and move furniture back to its original arrangement
  • Pick up books/journals/newspapers/A.V. and place and reshelve in call number order
  • Fill computer printers & copy machines with paper
  • For problems which arise (i.e. equipment malfunction, discipline problems) contact an appropriate library staff member and/or security personnel.
  • Assist in closing and locking the library at the appropriate time and make sure all equipment is properly shut down.ย ย 
  • Time sheet must be turned in monthly to Branch Manager Librarian.
  • Any projects as assigned

  • Through compliance with College policies, procedures, and expectations that include FERPA and HIPPA guidelines.ย ย 
  • Through communication with and/or from the library staff/faculty/students.ย ย 
  • Through documentation of library hours worked; work study timesheet.ย ย 

Mental and Physical Requirementsย 

  • Ability to stand and bend to perform assigned duties.ย 

  • Must have effective communication skills.ย 

Education, Training, and Experienceย 

  • All potential library assistants must undergo an interview process with the Library Branch Manager.ย 

  • Applicants must be in good academic standingย 

  • Selected library assistants must complete training with library staff on all specific duties and responsibilities.ย 

  • Understanding of FERPA and HIPPA regulations and guidelines.ย ย 

Working Environment and Conditionsย 

  • Performs duties in a ventilated, lighted, and temperature controlled environment.ย ย
