Job description

The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to serve as our Public Service Operations Manager. This full-time position provides system-wide leadership and oversight of public service operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, equitable, and innovative library services across all locations that meet the evolving needs of the community.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises Public Service Managers and other assigned staff by providing leadership, coaching, mentoring, performance evaluations, and professional development opportunities.
  • Serves as a key point of escalation for complex customer concerns, personnel issues, and operational challenges across public service areas.
  • Monitors and evaluates day-to-day public service operations, including circulation, reference, programming, and customer services, to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
  • Provides leadership and direction to ensure consistent public service standards, policies, and procedures are implemented and followed across all locations.
  • Develops, implements, and enforces policies and procedures related to public service.
  • Reviews and analyzes statistical data, community feedback, and service trends across the system to identify needs, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Fosters collaboration and communication among public service departments and locations to promote consistency, efficiency, and organizational goals.
  • Assists in the development and management of budgets for public service departments and locations.


Qualifications and Requirements

  • Master's degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) from an ALA-accredited library program required.
  • Significant progressively responsible managerial experience in a public library setting, including supervision of multiple departments or locations, required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of public library operations and service delivery across circulation, reference, and programming areas.
  • Experience managing budgets and personnel across multiple teams or locations.
  • Proficiency with library technology, integrated library systems, databases, and standard office software.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record required.
  • Experience overseeing library operations within a multi-location library system preferred.
  • History of leading system-wide initiatives or strategic planning efforts preferred.


Compensation

  • Starting salary: $32.65/hour ($67,912 annually)
  • Position is full-time
