Job description

Purpose:

Detail-oriented Quality Control Engineer to support our high-volume precision manufacturing operations as we transition our quality management system from ISO 9001 to IATF 16949. The Quality Control Engineer will maintain quality controls for high-speed screw machine operations while actively helping to upgrade our processes, documentation, and risk management strategies to meet rigorous automotive industry standards.

Typical responsibilities:

· Main contact for all customer requests, issues, rejects, PPAPs

· New program roll out/ documentation requirements

· Customer data requests

· Responsible for supplier quality and reporting/auditing/ requirements

· Receiving inspection

· All shop calibration requirements oversight

· Customer score card data collection/ performance summary

· Internal and supplier Auditor

· Maintain Customer Specific Requirements Library and communicate changes

· Responsible for all interfaces with the manufacturing floor.

· 1st piece Inspection

· Floor FIQC and 100% gaging

· CMM operation (excluding programming)

· SPC

· Quality Dept Inspection Staff – direction/ training/ time-attendance as needed

· Internal Auditor

· Robotic inspection system support

Physical Requirements:

· Bending, Lifting, Sitting, Standing, Walking

· Hazardous material exposure

· Hearing protection required as needed

· Safety Glasses required as needed

· Steel toe boots required

Required Qualification

Education:

AAS or Bachelors in engineering, technology, or a related technical discipline.

Experience:

1 to 3 years of quality control or quality engineering experience within an ISO 9001 certified environment. Automotive Industry Experience is required.

Mindset:

Strong desire to learn automotive quality systems, customer-specific requirements, and rigorous compliance standards. Team Player attitude.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in reading blueprints, GD&T, and mechanical precision measurement tools is required.

Preferred Skills

Exposure to or basic training in IATF 16949 or AIAG Core Tools (APQP,PPAP,FMEA,MSA,SPC)

Familiarity with the unique quality challenges of high-volume turned parts

You should be proficient in:

  • GD&T
  • Statistical process control (SPC)
  • Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • PPAP Process Experience
  • Blueprint Reading
