What is library marketing?

Library marketing refers to the strategies and activities used by libraries to promote their services, resources, and programs to the community. The goal is to increase awareness, usage, and engagement among patrons by effectively communicating the value of the library. This can include outreach campaigns, social media, events, and partnerships with local organizations. Library marketing professionals work to ensure that both new and existing services reach the right audiences, helping libraries stay relevant and well-utilized in their communities.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in library marketing?

To thrive in Library Marketing, you need strong skills in communications, content creation, and understanding of library services, often supported by a degree in marketing, communications, or library science. Familiarity with digital marketing tools, social media platforms, analytics software, and graphic design programs like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite is typically required. Creativity, collaboration, and adaptability are key soft skills for effectively promoting library programs and engaging diverse audiences. These skills and qualities are essential for increasing community awareness, driving library usage, and supporting the library’s mission in a dynamic information environment.

How does a library marketing professional typically collaborate with librarians and community partners to promote library services?

Library marketing professionals often work closely with librarians to identify programs, collections, and services that need greater visibility. They collaborate to develop promotional materials, organize events, and manage social media campaigns tailored to the library's target audiences. Additionally, they build relationships with local organizations, schools, and businesses to create joint initiatives and expand outreach. This collaborative approach ensures marketing efforts align with both the library’s mission and community needs, enhancing overall engagement and impact.

What is the difference between Library Marketing vs Library Public Relations?

Job description

Who We Are

McGuire Sponsel is a national specialty tax and advisory consulting firm founded in 2007. We serve more than 500 CPA and real estate firms across the country, and are recognized for combining our technical expertise with exceptional client service. With five offices throughout the United States: Indianapolis (HQ), Atlanta, Dallas, Phoenix, and Detroit, we are a rapidly-growing consulting firm and pride ourselves on finding and cultivating the best talent! Read about our GREAT culture below...

Core Values
  • Growth Mindset: We embrace challenges as opportunities to learn and evolve. With a deep desire to continuously level up, we approach our work with curiosity, humility, and a willingness to fail forward. Progress is built on iteration, not perfection.
  • Relationship Focus: We invest in authentic, trusting relationships — with our clients, our teammates, and ourselves. We lead with honesty, communicate openly, and collaborate with intentionality. Strong relationships are our foundation for great work and long-term success.
  • Strives for Excellence: We hold ourselves to the highest standards of integrity, quality, and intelligence. From strategic thinking to technical execution, we take pride in delivering exceptional work. Excellence is not an outcome — it's a mindset we bring to everything we do.
  • Awareness: We operate with emotional intelligence and self-awareness, understanding how our actions impact others and the broader team. We’re committed to personal growth, constructive feedback, and leading ourselves before leading others.
  • Tenacity: We show up with resilience, grit, and determination — especially when the work gets hard. We’re solutions-oriented, driven, and persistent in pursuing the best outcomes for our clients and our team. We don’t give up; we level up.

Role Overview

McGuire Sponsel’s unique business model assists CPA and real estate firms with identifying opportunities for their clients. By serving as an extension of our partner firms (also known as our Alliance Network), McGuire Sponsel strengthens client relationships by offering a conservative approach to delivering services that fall outside the traditional practices of local and regional firms. Our efforts have established McGuire Sponsel as a leading technical resource to the industry, and our Marketing team drives our branding, market strategy, and supports all of our practice lines, offices, alliance and partner networks, and relationship managers.

The Marketing Creative Design Specialist will transform complex information into engaging designs across print, digital, and multimedia formats. This role requires proficiency in design, a strong eye for detail, and the ability to collaborate with marketing and technical professionals to maintain a consistent and impactful brand identity. Applicants should be prepared to provide a portfolio of work samples that highlight design capabilities across multiple formats.
