Primary Purpose:
Responsible for providing professional reference service to all NSU-affiliated library users, both local and distance, and Broward County users; for recommending materials for selection for the reference collection as well as specified subject areas; for providing assistance and instruction to the university community and Broward County users in current research methods and library resources; and for providing documentation to assist in teaching. Some travel to sites for teaching library research as needed. Weekend and evening hours are required.

Essential Job Functions:
1. Provides professional reference service to all NSU-affiliated library users, both local and distance, and Broward County users in person, by phone, and via computer.
2. Assists library users in the use and interpretation of the library collections and in identifying and accessing appropriate materials for research purposes.
3. Provides individualized and group instruction on the use of library resources, including use of specialized databases, and produces documentation to assist in training and teaching.
4. Provides support for scholarly communication and research information management by maintaining faculty and researcher profiles; creating, updating, and validating publication and grant records; supporting data integration with external systems; delivering faculty training and support; generating reports and metrics to support institutional reporting and compliance; and participating as a member of the NSU Libraries Research and Systematic Review Service team.
5. Participates in collection development activities to recommend selection and weeding of library materials.
6. Assists in the creation and maintenance of web pages.
7. Prepares bibliographies and guides in subject areas.
8. May be expected to assume responsibility for the supervision of volunteers and/or student employees.
9. Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities: 1. Knowledge and understanding of library principles, practices and techniques.
2. Current computer skills, including online searching.
3. Ability to express ideas effectively, both orally and in writing.
