Job description

At Mainstream Engineering, our engineers turn innovative ideas into real-world products that solve complex technical challenges. We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer who thrives in a hands-on development environment and enjoys taking concepts from prototype through production.
In this role, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to design, document, and refine cutting-edge products across a wide range of applications. If you enjoy fast-paced engineering work, detailed mechanical design, and seeing your work become reality, we want to hear from you.
What You'll Do
  • Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional product development teams on new technology and product initiatives
  • Design and revise detailed 3D CAD models, including complex parts and assemblies for prototype and production systems
  • Create and maintain technical drawings for machined components, sheet metal parts, tubing, plastics/composites, and electromechanical assemblies
  • Support product development through engineering change orders (ECOs), revisions, and configuration management
  • Develop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs), product specification sheets, and technical documentation
  • Prepare and update quality assurance and manufacturing support documentation
  • Maintain organized CAD libraries and engineering documentation using Autodesk Inventor and Vault
  • Help establish and improve company-wide modeling and drafting standards
  • Work closely with manufacturing and engineering teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and production-ready

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum of a 3.3 GPA for all completed degrees
  • 2+ years of experience in mechanical product design and drafting
  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes
  • Experience creating detailed technical drawings and applying GD&T standards (ASME Y14.5)
  • Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor 2024 or newer
  • Experience with Autodesk Vault 2024 or newer preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and documentation practices
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment
  • U.S. Citizenship required due to ITAR restrictions
