Job Summary: The Library Media Specialist is responsible for managing the school library media center and providing a wide range of services to support the educational program. This includes fostering a love of reading, teaching information literacy skills, and integrating technology into the curriculum. The specialist will collaborate with teachers and staff to enhance student learning and promote the effective use of information resources.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Library Management:
    • Oversee the daily operations of the library media center, including the organization and maintenance of library materials.
    • Develop and manage the library budget, ensuring the acquisition of new books, resources, and technology.
    • Maintain accurate records of library inventory, circulation, and usage.
  2. Instructional Support:
    • Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources and information literacy skills into the curriculum.
    • Teach students how to locate, evaluate, and use information effectively.
    • Conduct library orientation sessions and provide instruction on the use of library resources and technology.
  3. Promoting Reading and Literacy:
    • Foster a love of reading and lifelong learning among students and staff.
