Job description

The Library is hiring a part-time Information Services Assistant. The Information Services Assistant is part of the systemwide support department to ensure that the informational needs of both the Dauphin County Library System's (The Library's) members and staff are met. The Information Services Assistant will aid in providing exceptional customer service throughout the reference process.
Education: BA/BS degree with one-year experience in customer service experience, or associate degree with two-years of library experience.
Experience: One year's experience working with the public.
Required Skills: Independent transportation for travel to libraries, programs, and outreach locations, excellent customer service and communication skills, ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted.
Schedule: Part-time, 25 hours per week.

  • Mondays and Tuesdays: 1:00 to 8:15 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. or 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.
  • Every other Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • One weekend a month alternating from a Saturday or Sunday from 9:00 to 5:00 p.m.

There is some flexibility with the hours.
