Job description

The Graduate Assistant for Library Services will assist in the delivery of library programs, services, and resources to support the academic and research needs of students and faculty. This position provides an excellent opportunity for hands-on experience in various library functions, including reference services, information literacy instruction, and collection management.

  • Responsible for periodically opening and closing the library, recording appropriate statistical information, accounting for monies collected, assisting with stack maintenance as needed and have a working knowledge of Word and Excel. Flexibility is desired with weekend and night shifts required.
  • Assist in providing reference and research assistance to library users in person, via phone, and online.
  • Support instructional sessions on information literacy, library resources, and research strategies.
  • Aid in the development of library guides, tutorials, and other instructional materials.
  • Participate in the selection, assessment, and weeding of library collections.
  • Assist in organizing library events, workshops, and exhibitions.
  • Conduct library tours and orientations for new students and faculty.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives within the library.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that contribute to the successful operation of the library.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Acceptance to a Misericordia University graduate program.
  • Previous library experience is preferred.
  • This position includes tuition remission, a meal plan and a generous stipend.
