Library Paraprofessional

The State College Area School District is currently accepting applications for a Library Paraprofessional at the high school level. The library paraprofessional assists the librarian in a variety of duties. The position requires the employee to develop a well-rounded knowledge of library operations. The paraprofessional must be able to provide access to the library facilities and materials during the absence of the librarian.

Duties include:

  • Assisting students and staff in locating and using library resources such as the library catalog, materials in the library, databases, online resources, and electronic devices.
  • Circulating library materials and equipment.
  • Maintaining library circulation records.
  • Processing requests for inter-school and inter-library loan materials.
  • Following all library operating procedures as outlined by the SCASD Library Department.
  • Assisting in maintaining a physical and electronic library space for classes and individual student work. May include, but not limited to, shelving, transferring and maintaining library materials, and repairing books.
  • Assisting with the inventories of library materials and equipment.
  • Performing duties as assigned in the ordering, receiving and processing of materials and equipment.
  • Helping maintain the appropriate library atmosphere.
  • Assisting with classroom management tasks such as attendance, guiding students and staff in borrowing materials, retrieving materials and other tasks as needed.
  • Performing other library duties as assigned.

The minimum pay rate for this position is $19.03 per hour.

Grade C; 7.5 Hours/Day; 192 Days/year
