Job description

Hours: Approximately 4-10 hours per week

Duties:

  • The student library assistant will provide customer service, under the supervision of the Library Public Services Manager, in the form of
    • staffing the desk during scheduled shifts
    • Answering phones
    • Checking materials in and out
    • Directing patrons to a librarian when necessary
    • Answering basic informational questions
    • Record statistics
    • Perform basic troubleshooting of printers and copiers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • We are looking for students who are focused on customer service, hold basic computer skills, have solid interpersonal communication skills, and are dependable. You may be asked to occasionally multitask.
  • Hours: Shifts can be as short as 1 hour or in longer blocks. Part of our process includes evaluating your availability vs. our open shifts. Student hours fall in between the hours of 7:30 and 10:00 p.m. Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fridays, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 8:00 p.m. on Sundays.
