The Circulation Division of the Provo City Library at Academy Square is looking for a part time Circulation Clerk to perform customer services tasks in support of the patrons frequenting the Library. Qualified, civic-minded individuals are encouraged to apply

What is the compensation?
Pay: $12.00 per hour. Payment will be by direct deposit.

What will I do?
  • Perform customer services tasks include checking in and out materials, accepting fines, answering phones, inputting computer data, processing library card applications, greeting and assisting children and adults with facility and material use, and handling money in a cashiering capacity.
  • Reshelve books.
  • Clean and perform simple repairs on library materials.
  • Assist library staff as needed and perform other related work as required.

What do I need to apply?
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Ability to read, spell, alphabetize, count, follow directions, and interact with the public at a level sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
  • May also require ability to handle monies in a cashiering capacity and data input on computer terminal menus.
  • Library experience and strong public relations/customer service skills desired.

What are the hours?
Approximately 20-24 hours per week. Weeknights and weekends will be required. Specific schedule will be discussed at interview and may be subject to change.
What are the physical and environmental factors?
Requires bending, stretching, shelving books (on eight-foot shelves), pushing and pulling book carts that weigh up to 175-200 pounds, standing for up to four hours at a time, lifting up to 25 pounds, and dealing with the public in sometimes stressful situations.
What is the selection process?
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on July 27, 2026. Applicants must meet the minimum requirements listed above to be eligible for consideration. If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
