Job Summary The Circulation Assistant will carry out routine Circulation Desk duties and designated collection or administrative duties. Will provide a positive and welcoming experience to all Library visitors and assist patrons of all ages in locating library materials. Examples of Duties Performing routine circulation functions accurately, including checking items in and out, registering new patrons, updating patron information, placing holds, collecting fees, and answering the phone.
Using online and paper resources to assist patrons of all ages with reader's advisory and information services. Assisting patrons in the use of library computers, equipment, and patron devices. Assisting in the preparation of displays, book lists, and bulletin boards.
Running circulation reports and notifications. Assisting with collection development. Processing materials as needed.
May work on all public facing service desks within the Library. Shelving materials and reading shelves as needed. Enforcing library policies in an appropriate manner.
Performing other duties as assigned. Minimum Required Qualifications High school diploma or GED with two years of library experience or equivalent experience working with the public. A combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered.
Supplemental Information Prior experience working in a library or bookstore preferred. Providing excellent customer service to the public and co-workers. Expertise and proficiency with computers and devices, popular Library software, the internet, and digital communications.
Knowledge of Koha, preferred. Ability to learn library procedures and apply policies. Fluency in a language other than English, preferred.
Works with a high degree of accuracy, efficiency, dependability, and independence.
