Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

Resinall Corp, a member of the Ergon family of companies, is seeking an experienced Reliability Engineer at our Hattiesburg, MS facility. This position is a service and support position to the Maintenance / Engineering Department. The Reliability Engineer develops and maintains programs as needed to improve the overall reliability of the refinery and terminal by utilizing up-to-date inspection techniques and other reliability technologies to predict and prevent failures before occurrence by recommending repairs or replacement of applicable equipment.

  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of Ergon fixed equipment, programs, procedures, applicable construction, inspection codes and standards (RAGAGEP) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ensure the mechanical integrity of fixed assets
  • Supervise, mentor and provide technical and subject matter expertise to inspectors. Maintain ability to supplement and fulfill inspector responsibilities as workload indicates
  • Review and approve systemization, circuitization, and CML allocation for all piping and fixed assets in all process units
  • Support Inspectors with PCMS data analysis. This includes inspection interval analysis, review and approval of contract inspections, thickness monitoring and NDE reports, and IWR management
  • Review and approve Inspection Work Plans (IWP), repair plans, and Fitness For Service (FFS) level 1 assessments
  • Conduct and or coordinate Level 2 FFS assessments and review Level 3 assessments conducted by contract Subject Matter Experts (SME)
  • Coordinate piping or equipment re-rate activities as required by inspection results, FFS evaluation, or MOC
  • Coordinate TAR initiated IRs, including field review of inspection and NDE findings, TAR FFS evaluations, and development of TAR repair plans
  • Specify test pressures for shutdown equipment closure-leak tests as well as code-required leak tests and perform calculations to determine exclusion zones for pneumatic testing
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for hot tapping and temporary repairs, including leak clamps to piping and equipment and ensure compliance with procedures and RAGAGEP
  • Coordinate consultant metallurgical failure analysis as required in support of RCFA activities
  • Coordinate Central Engineering Support services with outside SME consultants for the site
  • Participate in all aspects of miscellaneous project and maintenance engineering as necessary to meet the needs of the Maintenance / Engineering Department
  • Ensure proper entry of all assets and the Audit Master Asset Lists (MAL) in PCMS. Ensure Master Schedules are in place for all required inspections and inspection drawings are up to date, and inspection reports attached
  • Ensure the Electronic Data Library is maintained for fixed equipment including adding and archiving documents, reports and files as needed
  • Develop, audit, and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for inspection of fixed equipment
  • Update applicable programs and procedures according to assigned review schedules or as referenced codes and standards (RAGAGEP) are updated. Develop new programs and procedures as required to ensure compliance and continuous improvement of FEMI
  • Facilitate department planning to include developing a budget for completing assigned inspections, NDE, and IRs on an annual basis, training requirements, and resource planning
  • Conduct shutdown planning for fixed equipment to ensure IWPs are adequate and communicated to the shutdown Planner, and ensure contract resources are planned for and sourced
  • Conduct and participate in incident investigations and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for equipment leaks and failures and other incidents as required
  • Serve as SME for Management of Change activities as they relate to fixed equipment assets and ensure MOC required activities are assigned and completed by appropriate personnel
  • Participate in and provide mechanical integrity expertise for Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
  • Coordinate and conduct Damage Mechanism Assessments (DMA) to assess susceptibility to DMAs (API RP 571) of each circuit and fixed asset
  • Provide subject matter expertise for corrosion, coatings and linings, and materials
  • Develop solutions and implement action items, recommended improvements and corrective actions from MOC's, PHAs, RCFAs, and audits
  • Provide subject matter expertise for fixed equipment for capital projects including materials of construction, specification review, and damage mechanisms

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • This position requires a BS degree in Engineering (preferably in Mechanical Engineering).
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a a petrochemical and/or manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience with destructive and non-destructive inspection techniques, API and ASME fabrication and inspection codes, welding, and basic metallurgy is recommended.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, PCMS, Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Access is recommended.
  • Must have successfully completed and passed a Functional Job Capacity Evaluation (FCE).
  • Must be a self-motivated individual with strong leadership, communication, and organization skills.
