Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Coordinates, motivates, and develops Service Department staff in an effective and efficient operation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  1. Perform the essential duties of a Service Technician.
  2. Train Technicians and assist when needed.
  3. Oversee the work of technicians to ensure thoroughness and accuracy.
  4. Assign and schedule daily work orders.
  5. Assure that employees are cross-trained to ensure adequate coverage for all positions.
  6. Conduct regular service department meetings.
  7. Process and update service technician records and recovery rates.
  8. Attend any company, store and community functions that will benefit the dealership.
  9. Maintain company vehicles that are assigned to the Service Department.
  10. Control expenses of Service Department while maintaining services for customers.
  11. Maintain all manufacturer certifications and attend other training as needed.
  12. Work closely with the parts personnel to ensure parts required are available.
  13. Ensure that new machines and machines going out on a demonstration are clean and in "ready to go" condition; that follow-up service is conducted and required.
  14. Maintain and keep current the service library manuals and bulletins.
  15. Strive for innovative improvements that can be incorporated into existing practices.
  16. Maintains knowledge of regulations and compliance as related to USDOT, OSHA, EPA, and EEOC/ADA.
  17. Maintain a safe and clean working environment and adhere to company safety program at all times.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.
