Position Information
Posting Number 2010-0505 Position Title PT Evening Library/Academic Success Center Assistant Open Date 02/23/2026 Close Date Open Until Filled Yes Full or Part Time Part Time Permanent or Temporary Permanent Job Summary
Under the supervision of the Director of Library Services & Academic Success, the Evening Library/Academic Success Center (ASC) Assistant will provide general library services (checking in and out materials, basic reference service, assist with the online catalog, etc.), basic technology assistance to patrons with the use of computers, student online programs, copiers, printers and will assist with test proctoring and other assigned projects as necessary. The assistant will be responsible for closing the Library/ASC two nights each week. The assistant may work different hours as deemed necessary by the Director.
Job Duties:
  • Provide information and assistance to students, faculty, staff and community members.
  • Provide telephone assistance (answering phone and assisting with incoming calls).
  • Maintain a working knowledge of electronic and print library resources.
  • Assist Library users with computers, printer, copier and software applications.
  • Use the Library circulation system to perform circulation services.
  • Communicate with daytime staff regarding testing, tutoring, proctoring, student assistance, etc.
  • Collect monies for Papercut accounts as needed.
  • Shelve library materials.
  • Straighten tables and chairs.
  • Shelf reading and general stack maintenance (weeding, inventory).
  • Assist with various special assigned projects.
  • Assist with keeping LibGuide information current, Archival assistance, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree.
  2. Two years of library or related customer service experience
  3. Excellent customer service skills.
  4. Excellent computer skills.
  5. 5. Ability to work well independently and with others.
Physical Requirements:
  • General office work environment subject to normal temperature variations
  • Sitting, bending, stooping and walking
  • Shelving books requires stooping, crouching, reaching and walking
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Master's degree.
  2. Technical library knowledge and experience (NCCCEvergreen, LibGuides).
  3. Familiarity with Library of Congress system.
  4. Experience working with students in an academic setting.
