QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES OF THE LIBRARY MEDIA CENTER PARAPROFESSIONAL
POSITION: Library Media Center Aide
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma
Sixty (60) college hours or MEGA test
REPORTS TO: Library Media Specialist and Building Principal
SUPERVISES AND EVALUATES: N/A
JOB GOALS: Assist the Library Media Specialist in maintaining an operational LMC by providing library services, guidance and assistance to the school community/patrons.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 months
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Work with the library media specialist to create and maintain the aesthetic and professional appearance of the library media center.
2. Work with the library media specialist to ensure quality library services to all patrons. 3. Assist patrons in the location and use of LMC resources.
4. Perform clerical transactions such as circulation of all LMC materials, (check in/out and reshelf materials), daily/monthly circulation records, overdue notices to students, (letter to parents under the supervision of LMS), updating patron records and vertical file.
5. Assist the library media specialist with processing all LMC materials; this includes receiving new materials, maintenance of the electronic catalog, preparing new materials for shelving and identifying items for deselection.
6. Assist the library media specialist with maintaining the building equipment inventory, the LMC inventory, the annual LMC inventory report and any other pertinent report.
7. Repair damaged materials. Request equipment repairs when necessary.
8. Maintain updated library schedule and instructional times.
9. Attend in service and other appropriate staff meetings.
10. Perform tasks and other duties as the library media specialists assigns in a timely manner.
11. Additional Duties May be Assigned.
