Job description

Hiring Range:

$33.68 - $39.63

Full Pay Range:

$31.70 - $47.56

Job Summary:

Provides information services; oversees a specific branch or program function in the library; pursues opportunities for community collaboration; plans, coordinates, and delivers library programs, services, and/or projects. Primary responsibilities fulfilled at various service points, including information desks and circulation desks; May make work assignments to library associates, aides, and volunteers. ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Welcomes customers to the library, assessing customer needs, and connecting customers with appropriate resources and staff; answering directional and informational questions; providing information services, including research assistance, readers' advisory, chat reference, and instruction.

  • Plans, delivers, and/or monitors programs to all ages, including early literacy classes; markets and promotes programs throughout the library system; and supports outreach; and attends events in the community as assigned, including Readmobile visits.

  • Assists customers with library accounts and materials, including processing account applications; verifying account information; checking materials in and out; renewing materials; placing holds and interlibrary loan requests; sorting and shelving materials; accepting payment and making change; and responding to customer concerns and disputes.

  • Assists customers through various aspects of using the library, including accessing library materials, public access catalog, Internet stations, printers, copiers, self-checkout, etc.; reserving meeting rooms; scheduling curbside appointments; faxing and scanning documents; instructing customers in the use of print electronic resources; and troubleshooting equipment problems.

  • Navigates change, especially technology, public library trends, and develops skills with new technology.

  • Markets and promotes library programs and services through the use of displays, digital marketing, and conversations with customers; and works with in coordination with the Library Technology Manager to create promotional materials including social media for in-house programming.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

  • Requires equivalency of a Bachelor's Degree

  • Two years' experience working in a library, educational or related setting.

  • A reliable form of transportation for the performance of work responsibilities is required.


SELECTION PROCESS:

Selection for this position will be based on a minimum qualifications screening and rating of training and experience. Top candidates will be forwarded to hiring manager or supervisor for consideration for interview and/or additional assessments. Final selection will include a background check and approval by the County Board.
