Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 13,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 - 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

What We Need:
The Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teacher will be directly responsible to the building Principal for all matters pertaining to the operation of the school, in-building administrative and personnel procedures, and general or district-wide policies. He/she will be indirectly responsible to the Director of Elementary Education and Director of Special Education for all matters pertaining to curriculum, instructional methods, assessment and materials.
LOCATION: OT/PT Department and itinerant to school buildings as needed
GENERAL DUTIES RELATED TO NON-ACADEMIC INSTRUCTION:
1. Upon Request, assist therapists to collect equipment and materials for daily therapy.
2. Assist with students during therapy session
3. Assist transporting student to and from treatment area
4. Prepare treatment area prior to session
5. Assists with obtaining Doctor's Authorization
6. Assists with contacting families and physicians
7. Maintain the department's student database
8. Maintain records and statistical information on problem-solving requests, initial evaluations, discontinued services, and move-in services.
9. Assist in ordering and requisitioning equipment, supplies, and evaluation materials
10. Receive and label new therapy equipment and supplies
11. Maintain inventory of equipment for department
12. Assist Therapists in the scheduling process of students at the start of the school year.
13. Assist with end of year duties which includes updating database, data sheets, & statistics
14. Assist in the effective functioning and maintenance of department's library/media center
15. Maintain all testing and evaluation materials
16. Scheduling of initial evaluations for new students as requested
17. Assist with maintaining departmental forms
18. Attend departmental meetings and record meeting minutes
19. Secure equipment as requested for meetings and in-services activities as needed (TV, VCR, overheads, etc)
20. Manage department's telephones and receive visitors
21. Copy materials for the department
22. Filing, laminating, & faxing as requested
23. Obtain and distribute mail daily
24. Maintain department records of therapists' schedules and keep record of schedule deviations and absences.
25. Other related duties as assigned within the parameters of the existing duties of their work category.
QUALIFICATIONS: (1) High School diploma or equivalent (2) Ability to pass the paraprofessional basic skills test administered by the Human Resources Department (3) Valid Driver's license and transportation.
