What is an LFT?

LFTs typically stand for 'Liver Function Tests,' which are blood tests used to assess the health and functioning of your liver. These tests measure levels of various enzymes, proteins, and substances produced or processed by the liver, such as ALT, AST, ALP, bilirubin, and albumin. LFTs help diagnose liver diseases, monitor treatment progress, and check for side effects of medications that may affect the liver. If you have symptoms like jaundice, fatigue, or abdominal pain, your doctor may order LFTs to help determine the cause.
