Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Cardiac and Medical PCU (ICU Stepdown) position requiring 18 months of experience and IN or compact RN license in hand.

Details
  • Cardiac and Medical PCU functioning as a true ICU Stepdown unit
  • Cares for cardiac patients including heart caths, pre/post cardiac angiogram, and post watchman/ablation procedures
  • Manages cardiac and vasoactive drips including Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, and Amio
  • Utilizes BiPAP and High Flow Oxygen therapy
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours from 18:00 to 06:30
  • Every other weekend required
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities
  • Uses Cerner charting system
  • 194 staffed bed short-term acute care facility
Requirements
  • Active IN or compact RN license required in hand prior to start
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required, NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 18 months of recent nursing experience required
  • Previous ICU experience highly preferred
  • Telemetry, IV start, and cardiac/vasoactive drip management experience required
  • Vent management, Charge Nurse experience, and Conscious Sedation experience preferred
  • Level I, II, III, or IV trauma center experience required
  • Skilled in BiPAP/CPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula management
  • Experience with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • 2 supervisor references required
  • Nursing degree from a college or university accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care in a high-acuity stepdown environment for cardiac and medical patients
  • Respond to Rapid Response and Code team activations as needed
  • Scrub color requirement: red top, black bottoms
  • Free parking available onsite
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Local candidates residing in Indiana are not accepted for this position
  • Any current or former IU Health perm or PRN employee must wait 12 months before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment within IU Health must take a designated break to reset eligibility
