NETWORK ENGINEER - LEVEL III
Location: Pearl Harbor, HI
Clearance: TS/SCI
Required Certification:
  • Must have a current DoD IAT Level II certification such as CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • Must be able to obtain one additional certification such as CCNA, MCSA, MCSE, Linux+, VCP, or equivalent within 6 months of hire date.
Job Description
This is a full-time, salary-exempt position located on the Island of O'ahu, Hawai'i. Ulu HI-Tech is seeking a TACNET ISEA Network Engineer Level 3 (Fleet Support) to join our team in Pearl Harbor, HI. This position is a Hybrid Remote with expectations to be onsite onboard US Navy ships periodically during the week. Candidate will interface with Active-Duty personnel and US Government employees to provide top notch repair support with a focus on United States Navy related networks. Related systems include ADNS, ISNS, CANES, CENTRIXS, Legacy SCI, VIXS, WRBS and all associated installed applications. The position may require travel, equal to approximately 25%, both US and international along with some off-hour support. At times, the duty for TACNET can be afloat.
Responsibilities
  • Provide break/fix Information Technology support in a fast paced, high-energy environment.
  • Analyze issues in an Enterprise LAN Shipboard Environment to determine the best course of action for resolution.
  • Provide root cause analysis and be comfortable recommending permanent configuration changes when necessary.
  • Work in cooperation with external partners, including consultants, agencies and vendors, to troubleshoot intra-system issues, and to assist with system integration design solutions.
  • Provide server break-fix and provide remote support for server, network, desktop, and peripheral equipment.
  • Interface and direct US Navy Customers regarding the proper approach to maintaining US Navy Afloat networks and the associated network components supporting data, voice and/or audio communication activities.
  • Attend and participate in technical meetings, report on technical progress, prepare briefs, and provide presentations.
  • Participate in integrated product teams and engineering/design reviews.
Qualifications
  • 8 years recent NC4I(S) or other relevant experience in design, integration, analysis, troubleshooting, documenting, programming and operation of computer equipment and networks, including Sun Microsystems/UNIX, ATM, Cisco router and certificate from Cisco for a certified network associate. Networks shall also include the SATCOM, rf, microwave, fiber optic, and baseband components.
  • Windows and Linux system administrator skills
  • Knowledge on network routing & switching systems (e.g. switches, routers) - Experience with TACLANES, and other with COMSEC devices.
  • Knowledge on Virtualization (e.g. VMware)
  • Linux Red Hat version 5/6
  • Possess the skills to exercise independent judgement within broadly defined practices and policies of military data communications.
  • Strong communicator with high proficiency with Microsoft Office software products.
  • Customer Service orientated.
  • Familiarity with one of the following systems is a plus: CANES, ADNS, CENTRIXS, ISNS/ORT, ONE-NET, SCI-Networks, SUB-LAN, VIXS, WRBS, CND and SCIP-IWF.
Education & Certifications
  • Bachelors in CE, CS, TM, IS, IRM, or IT & MSCE; Master's or higher in same, Sun Microsystems/UNIX, Cisco route and ATM Certs.
Physical Requirements
  • May require lifting and moving office supplies, furniture, equipment and boxes weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • May require the ability to work at multiple locations and travel nationally, as needed.
