Title: Sr Network Engineer

Location: Washington, DC (onsite, full-time)

Description

Please note that this is a full-time, direct-hire role. Due to segments of our customer base, we cannot sponsor employment visas.

Senior network engineering support to include advanced data design, upgrades, troubleshooting, and Level 3 operational support for the campus and wide area networks.

Responsibilities

The Senior Network Engineer should have extensive experience in the design, implementation, and support of complex data and voice networks, provisioning and troubleshooting wide area services, diagnosing and resolving equipment configuration and network problems, monitoring network faults and performance, and supporting cabling infrastructures to support voice and data. Typical duties include (but are not limited to):

  • • Engineering design and implementation for data, voice, and/or video services.
  • • Engineering design and implementation for VoIP and QoS services.
  • • Engineering design and implementation for business continuity, redundancy, diversity, and failover for data services.
  • • Providing Senior‐level operational support (troubleshooting and resolving network problems and outages).
  • • Respond to requests from Campus, WAN, Network Control Center, and NMS groups
  • • Monitoring advanced network and system performance.
  • • Providing customer liaison.
  • • Documentation (network diagrams, network device configuration templates, design validation reports, testing plans, etc.).
  • • Knowledge transfer on new/upgraded technologies and services to client Level 2 (Network Configuration Management) and Level 3 (Network Systems Engineering) staff.
  • • Coordinating work on projects, including assigning and scheduling tasks.
  • • Following client IT Governance methodology for managing projects.
  • • System engineering technical support


Qualifications

Position Requirements:

This position requires experience in the following tasks:

  • • 6+ years of hands‐on experience designing, implementing, and supporting complex data networks.
  • • Extensive hands‐on experience with Cisco routers and switches, Cisco IOS and NX-OS, and routing protocols EIGRP and BGP.
  • • Experience with configuration and troubleshooting of IEEE 802.1x, ideally with Cisco ISE.
  • • Multi-site VPN, both LAN-to-LAN and DMVPN.
  • • Wireless networking in a Cisco and Aruba environment.
  • • Senior‐level troubleshooting of complex data networks, including Wireshark analysis.
  • • Designing and implementing for network redundancy and failover.
  • • Implementing best practices and applicable information security/information assurance policies and principles in the delivery of network services.
  • • SDLC and system engineering technical support.
  • • Managing data/voice/video communications projects.
  • • Managing data communications projects utilizing Cisco equipment preferred.
  • • Contractor personnel filling this position will be required to:
  • • Work across teams and functional areas.
  • • Train and/or transfer knowledge. Contractor must train Client staff on new technologies and services prior to deployment.
  • • Lead technical staff.
  • • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • • Listen to customer concerns, be responsive to individual customer needs, and work with non-technical customers to answer their service questions.


It would be great if you also had

  • • Expert knowledge of and extensive experience with NetFlow and a variety of NMS.
  • • Understand and support large VoIP networks with SIP and H.323.
  • • Configure and troubleshoot LTE cellular backup with Cisco routers.
  • • Experience with automation and scripting.
  • • Experience with Infoblox DNS/DHCP and Infoblox NetMRI.


Education

  • • Active CCNP or CCIE certification
  • • A four-year academic degree from an accredited university preferred
