Make it Work. Make it Count.

At Steen Engineering, we don't just design systems - we build trust, solve boldly, and stand by our work. As a Mechanical Designer Level 3, you'll play a key role in bringing smart, sensible, and sustainable MEP solutions to life across nearly every project type and market.

You'll work side-by-side with engineers, clients, and design partners - developing HVAC and plumbing systems that make buildings safer, healthier, and more efficient. This role calls for technical expertise, project ownership, and a collaborative spirit that thrives in a fast-paced, people-first environment.

Why This Role Matters

This is more than a production seat. As a Designer Level 3, you'll own your work, guide junior designers, and coordinate with internal and external teams to deliver quality projects on schedule. You'll be trusted to make decisions, solve problems, and embody The Steen Way - a meticulous, humble, and team-driven approach to MEP design.

What You'll Do

  • Manage project deliverables, design timelines, and production schedules.
  • Communicate and coordinate with owners, architects, civil/structural engineers, and fellow team members.
  • Lead early-stage system planning and schematic development.
  • Redline and/or perform drafting work in Revit and AutoCAD, complete with schedules and details.
  • Serve as a key client contact, answering questions and providing documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor scope, flag potential overages, and work with the Principal in Charge to manage additional services.
  • Perform site observations with senior engineers and ensure field conditions align with the design.
  • Review shop drawings and provide construction phase support.
  • Use signature Steen checklists to confirm design accuracy and completeness.

What You Bring

  • A trade school degree in HVAC, plumbing, or related mechanical systems.
  • 10+ years of mechanical design experience in commercial, institutional, retail or industrial projects.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Office 365.
  • Familiarity with Carrier HAP or Trane Trace load calculation software.
  • Exceptional communication skills, strong emotional intelligence, and a drive to collaborate.
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • A mindset that aligns with our core team values - Humble, Hardworking and Smart - that means checking our ego at the door, digging in together to make it work, and delivering the smart, sensible solutions our clients know and love us for.

What You'll Love About Steen

  • A people-first culture where mentorship is real and egos are checked at the door.
  • Competitive salary, flexible work options, and a commitment to your long-term growth.
  • An environment where your work is seen, appreciated, and built from the ground up in the real world.
  • A team that has your back-on deadlines, on growth, and on the job site.
  • The chance to shape systems and spaces that serve real people.

Grow your career the Steen Way.
