Job description

Preload is seeking a Garage Mechanic to join their growing team. The Garage Mechanic performs the maintenance, service, repair of diesel/gas-powered trucks and equipment, either in the shop or in the field, by performing all duties of a skilled mechanic. Pay is in the $28/hr to $38/hr with competitive benefits.
  • Inspect, diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
  • Inspect the engine and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
  • Use hand tools as well as power tools, such as pneumatic wrenches, cordless tools, welding equipment and hoists.
  • Examine and adjust protective guards and specified safety devices.
  • Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries and lubricating equipment and machinery.
  • Test drive trucks and heavy equipment to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly.
  • Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
  • Assess defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as multi meters, schematics, or pressure gauges.
  • Repair or replace wiring, lights, and instrument panels.
  • Diagnose and repair vehicle heating and cooling systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or general education degree
  • Two to five years of mechanical experience (must have own tools)
  • Experience as a diesel mechanic in a garage environment is preferred
