Summary:
The Heavy Vehicle Mechanic will be responsible for maintenance and repair of our trucks and trailers. This position will report directly to the Regional Operations Manager The Mechanic's responsibilities will also include keeping inventory, conduct diagnostic tests, assist technicians, as well as any other shop related tasks.
Schedule:
  • Daily reporting to the Wallisville, TX Hub with service calls into the field via a company provided vehicle
  • This position provides a set shift schedule that allows you to get home at the end of each shift
  • A potential to travel outside of the assigned region is possible. Regional travel between Certarus hubs

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Diagnose problems with heavy duty vehicles and schedule repairs
  • Perform minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers
  • Perform regular diagnostic tests on trucks
  • Commercial Vehicle Inspections as well as quarterly inspections
  • Keep equipment available for use by completing preventive maintenance schedules, installing component and part upgrades
  • Operate a pallet jack or forklift
  • Maintain parts inventory, and company vehicle
  • Perform other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the Regional Manager or Supervisor

Requirements:
  • The best suited candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of diesel mechanic experience with heavy vehicles
  • ASE Diesel certification in both diesel engines and electrical systems, with T2 and T6 focus areas considered an asset
  • Associates of Applied Science in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance is considered an asset
  • Experience maintaining Cummins diesel, Peterbilt and Freightliner vehicles
  • Ability to diagnose and repair engines, electrical systems, and brake components
  • Excellent organizational and technical communication skills, interpersonal skills, and an ability to influence and to deal tactfully with a wide range of personalities
  • Exceptional work ethic with a positive, analytical, and safe work attitude
  • Basic skills in the use of computer-based programs such as MS 365, and CMMS systems
  • Must be a safety minded, a self-starter, and a team player
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Record(s) (MVR & PSP) with no suspensions
  • Candidates must be able to pass a thorough criminal background check, Fit-for-Duty, and D&A screen to be considered for employment
