Job description

Position Summary

Odyssey Systems is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support advanced situational awareness and multi-domain operations (MDO) programs. This role focuses on the design, analysis, and integration of RF and signal processing systems that enable next-generation battlefield awareness, electronic warfare, and spectrum management capabilities.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, analysts, and operators to design and deliver systems that integrate data from diverse sensors, communications, and radar systems to provide actionable intelligence and operational advantage. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in RF, signal processing, and spectrum management, along with experience contributing to mission-critical DoD programs in multi-domain environments.

This is a full time position located at MacDill AFB, FL or Ft. Belvoir, VA.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but not limited to: 

  • Lead the development, decomposition, and management of system-level requirements, architectures, and technical baselines.

  • Define system concepts, interfaces, and integration strategies for complex hardware and software systems.

  • Conduct trade studies, risk assessments, and technical analyses to support decision-making.

  • Oversee system integration activities, ensuring compatibility and performance across subsystems.

  • Lead verification and validation planning, including test strategy, requirements traceability, and acceptance criteria.

  • Facilitate technical reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR) and ensure readiness for program milestones.

  • Collaborate with engineering, program management, and customer stakeholders to ensure alignment with technical and program objectives.

  • Troubleshoot system-level issues and drive root-cause analysis and corrective actions.

  • Develop and maintain system engineering documentation, including specifications, interface control documents (ICDs), and system engineering plans.

  • Mentor junior and mid-level systems engineers and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

Minimum Required Qualifications

Clearance: Active Secret (ability to obtain TS/SCI with CI Poly required)

Education: Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical field

Experience: 7+ years of experience in systems engineering or multidisciplinary engineering roles

  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, including requirements management, architecture development, and verification/validation

  • Experience with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, Jama, Cameo, JIRA, or Confluence

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and interface documents

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional engineering efforts and drive technical alignment

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Master's degree in Systems Engineering or related discipline

Experience: 

Technical Skills

  • Experience in aerospace, defense, automotive, robotics, or other complex system development environments

  • Knowledge of model-based systems engineering (MBSE) methods and tools

  • Familiarity with risk management, trade studies, and technical decision frameworks

  • Experience leading design reviews and supporting major program milestones

  • Understanding of configuration management and change control processes

  • Ability to influence architecture decisions and long-term technical strategy
