Description

UNC Caldwell is the choice for health care in Caldwell County. The Emergency Department sees approximately 30,000 visits a year. Caldwell Physicians and UNC Health Medical Group provide the majority of primary care and select specialty care to our market from thirteen separate medical park locations and 137 bed hospital. Caldwell is seeking a BE/BC Pediatrician for a position in a traditional outpatient model with a team of experienced partners.

  • Location in the Blue Ridge Mountains - the heart of Northwestern North Carolina with a temperate 4 climate seasons
  • A variety of things to do: outdoor recreation, art, music, cycling, water sports, hiking and more
  • Proximity to higher education opportunities: Appalachian State University in Boone, NC; Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC; Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute in Hudson, NC; and an excellent pre-K thru 12 Public School System that includes an Early College High School
  • One hour-and-ten-minute travel time each to: Charlotte Douglas International Airport; the eclectic attractions of Asheville; the arts and history of Winston-Salem; and only 20 minutes to the North Carolina High Country and the mountain seasonal resort community of Blowing Rock.

Practice Highlights:

  • Collaborative team of 5 providers in a busy/mature practice!
  • Clinic volume - 4 days a week, average of 20 patients a day. Mix of newborns, children and adolescents. Well checks and acute visits, including mental health.
  • Very balanced call schedule. Call includes ED/UC calls, inpatient pediatrics and back-up triage calls for Mulberry and The Falls Pediatrics patients (after nurse triage screens first). Typically less than 10 calls in a week, some nights with no calls. Limited general inpatient pediatric admissions from the ED, typically less than 15 admissions in a year.
