SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:


The Facilities Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of the School facilities daily operations and needs. The Facilities Coordinator is directly responsible for maintaining the appearance of the buildings and grounds of the property. At all times ensuring optimal functioning of the building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety and elevator to provide the safest and healthiest environment for all Leman scholars and staff. The Facilities Coordinator will serve as the main point of contact for all facility related services and issues, managing outside vendors and contractors and performing regular maintenance and cleaning services as the campus needs.


Line of Authority/Reports to: The Facilities Coordinator shall be directly responsible to the Site Principals, in providing services required for the administration of the school in order to assure the smooth, efficient operation of the campus.


Works with: Vice Principal, Principal, Head of School's, Central Office, Faculty, Office Staff, Department Heads, Families and Scholars of Leman Academy of Excellence, and vendors who may provide services for our scholars.


Job Goal: The Facilities Services Coordinator for Leman Academy serves in a pivotal role to provide a safe and effective environment for our Scholars, staff and community.


Qualifications/Minimum Requirements:


  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED.
  • DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance.
  • First Aid/ CPR Certifications.
  • Valid Driverโ€™s License.
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs.
  • Background in Maintenance or Facilities work preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic maintenance issues including various equipment throughout the facility i.e. electrical, mechanical, hvac general troubleshooting capability and safety practices.
  • Moderate computer skills including ability to use Microsoft office, general emailing and internet research.
  • Mechanically proficients in a variety of repair areas including drywall repair, basic plumbing/electrical, painting and varied floor stripping/finishing/waxing experience.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills to positively impact school community with an ability to build strong relationships.
  • An understanding of purchasing, supplies, grounds-keeping and preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with scholars, parents, co-workers, vendors and build relationships.
  • Strong commitment to providing leadership in promoting health and safety, including a safe environment.
  • Ability to operate office equipment as required on assignment


Duties and Areas of Responsibility:


  • Helps ensure all basic requirements of the facilities like hygiene, water, electricity, air conditioning etc., are in good working order.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for scholars and staff. Comply with all applicable policies, rules and regulations, including but not limited to those relating to safety, health, child care.
  • General maintenance and preventative care of campus buildings, outside areas and communal spaces.
  • Inspect & Maintain accurate records of the condition of equipment and other systems in the building.
  • Liaison with and manage outside vendors for general supplies and facilities/grounds-keeping regular services.
  • Serve as point of contact for all outside vendors relating to the facilities; i.e. janitorial crew, custodial supply vendors, groundskeeping crews, regular building service providers
  • Maintain and track and be prepared for all applicable facilities inspections throughout the year; i.e. health department, DES, fire/safety, waste water etc.
  • Regularly train staff on use of facilities equipment as needed i.e. lights, thermostats, door alarms etc.
  • Ensure incoming staff in pertinent departments are aware of inspections and facilities requirements as needed.
  • Prep communal areas, classrooms etc for any special activities at the direction of the Office Manager and Site Principals.
  • Inventory/stocking of custodial and basic maintenance supplies as needed.
  • Ordering of additional supplies through vendors in conjunction with business office.
  • Identify any long-term or sizeable issues within the facility that need to be addressed, communicate with site Principals and business office on resolution of issues.
  • Directly communicate with site Vice Principal and/or Principal on normal operations of the school.
  • Provide General On-Site Assistance for Leman staff and scholars as needed.
  • Accept other duties as assigned.
  • Develop and maintain effective client, vendor, family and community-based organizations relationships.
