Job description

We are an established real estate law firm with offices across California. Our Irvine office is looking for a Legal Assistant to join our fast-paced team. If chosen as the successful candidate, you will be responsible for providing administrative and legal support for the Business and Real Estate practice group, with efficient and timely production of all requested work product to ensure that clients are provided the highest level of service.

Compensation:

$31-40 per hour DOE

Responsibilities:

  • Provide high volume overall administrative and paralegalย support to the attorneysย on a wide array of matters, including real estate and business litigation, residential and commercial pre-litigation, TROs, commercial unlawful detainers, and other practice areas handled within the departmentย 
  • Provide case management support to the attorneys, includingย but not limited toย calendaring deadlines, maintaining and organizing the electronic files in the documentย and caseย management systems, filing, scanning, closing files, copying, sorting and scanning mail, ordering supplies, managing the invoicesย and billing processes, and updating filesย ย 
  • Provide advanced legal support to the attorneys, includingย but not limited toย document preparation, drafting,ย proofreadingย andย finalizingย documents and correspondence.ย Serve,ย copyย and file documents with the court; and other duties assigned by the attorneysย 
  • Communicate and collaborate internally with various members of theย Business Real Estateย department and support departmentsย 
  • Regularly communicate externally with clients, opposing counsel and parties, the courts, and vendorsย 
  • Manage workflow for the attorneys, ensuring they are on track to meet deadlines and communicateย timelyย internally and externallyย ย 
  • Ensure assignments are completedย in a timely mannerย 
  • Assistย team with finding ways to create a more effective and efficient workflow and processesย 
  • Allocate time for training and development for professional growth andย development, creating efficiencies and processes for attorneys, self, and team to continuously enhanceย skills and abilitiesย ย 
  • Support team on anyย additionalย assignments and projects asย requiredย 

Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in a law firm
  • General litigation experience
  • Knowledge of local rules and deadlines
  • E-filing experience with local and State courts
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Experience with case or practice management system (ProLaw or other similar system)
  • Strong research and writing skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with inflexible deadlines and high-volume workload
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service externally and internally
  • Minimum typing speed of 60 wpm

The following qualifications are preferred:

  • ABA-approved paralegal certificate
  • ProLaw experience
  • Knowledge of California and Federal Rules of Court
  • Experience with a legal document management system

Schedule:

Position is full-time at 40 hours/week. Our business hours are 8:30am-5:30pm Monday-Thursday, 8:30am-5:00pm Friday.

New hire employees will complete the majority of their onboarding and training in-office as deemed necessary for the position by the firm before transitioning to a possible hybrid schedule under this policy, subject to approval by their supervisor.
