Job description

Senior Legal Typist

The Employment Development Department (EDD) Legal Office is seeking candidates to apply for the Senior Legal Typist position at its headquarters in downtown Sacramento. Under the supervision of the Legal Support Supervisor, the Senior Legal Typist provides secretarial and administrative support for the Legal Office staff of approximately 31 attorneys and Legal Analysts. The Senior Legal Typist will assist in processing incoming legal correspondence, pleadings, briefs, various legal notices and forms and preparing outgoing memorandum, correspondence and legal documents filed with administrative agencies or courts. The Senior Legal Typist will serve as a backup to assist with maintaining Fraud Recovery Employment Development Department (FREDD) documents and assists with incoming Public Record Act (PRA) requests. The Senior Legal Typist works independently as well as in a team environment, have strong communication, works well under pressure, and can multi-task.

The Legal Office is looking for an individual who is self-motivated, exhibits the ability to work independently and on a team, has strong organizational skills, is detail-oriented, and demonstrates the core values of EDD. The incumbent must possess familiarity with legal terms, judicial forms and processes, Word and Excel, and good judgment to analyze situations accurately and take effective action.

This position will require you to work in office four days a week. Interviews for this position will be conducted in person.
