This role is critical in the legal industry because even minor mistakes can have significant consequences for clients or legal proceedings.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a legal proofreader, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Legal Proofreader, you need strong grammar, punctuation, and legal terminology knowledge, often supported by a bachelor’s degree in English, law, or a related field. Familiarity with legal document management systems and advanced word processing tools, such as Microsoft Word and document comparison software, is typical. Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and discretion are crucial soft skills for excelling in this position.
