Director of Legal Operation

Department: Operations

Compensation: $145,000 - $175,000 / year


Description

The Director of Legal Operations will oversee the daily operations of the legal assistant and paralegal teams, ensuring efficient, high-quality support across all active litigation matters. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supervising, mentoring, and evaluating legal support staff; developing and implementing policies and best practices to standardize workflows firmwide; partnering with attorneys to ensure proper staffing against case deadlines and discovery demands; monitoring case management systems for accuracy and compliance; and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, technology use, and training. Our practice is growing and the ideal candidate for this position is an experienced legal operations leader with a strong track record scaling a plaintiff's litigation practice who is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to building a high-performing legal support


Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the daily operations of the legal assistant and paralegal teams, ensuring efficient, high-quality support across all active litigation matters.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate legal assistants and paralegals, providing guidance on performance, workload distribution, and professional development.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to standardize legal support functions and case workflows firmwide.
  • Partner with attorneys to ensure legal support staff are properly staffed and aligned with case deadlines, court requirements, and discovery demands.
  • Monitor case management systems and legal support workflows to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely completion of filings and discovery.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency, technology use, and training within the legal support department.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience as a Legal Operations Manager, Director of Legal Operations, or similar role.
  • Experience helping to grow and scale a plaintiff’s litigation practice
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of legal operations, technology, and process improvement, preferably within wage-and-hour or class action litigation.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience with legal technology and case management software, such as Litify or similar industry-standard platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Legal Studies, or a related field.
