Job description

Faegre Drinker is a firm designed for clients and designed for you. We understand that our people are critical to our success and we are committed to investing in our paraprofessional, administrative and operations professionals. We are always looking for talented, service-focused individuals to join our flexible and high-performing culture. With technology tools and resources that support our hybrid work environment, our colleagues enjoy a culture of learning, support for work and personal goals, opportunities to give back to our communities, and competitive benefits and rewards programs. At Faegre Drinker, you will have the opportunity to share your expertise within and across teams and contribute to our success.

Job Description Summary:

Are you a practicing attorney or former practicing attorney looking to apply your legal expertise in a high-impact, non-attorney role where legal expertise meets emerging technology? Faegre Drinker has an opportunity for a Manager of Legal Solutions to work within our Technology & Innovation department. Based in our Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., Chicago, or Indianapolis office, this professional staff role is not a practicing attorney position; rather, it offers a meaningful career pivot at the intersection of law, technology, and innovation.
You will leverage your J.D. and legal practice experience to serve as a critical bridge between practicing attorneys, consulting professionals, the technology and innovation teams, and clients, helping design and implement AI-enabled solutions, workflow automation, and digital tools that shape how legal services are delivered. You will also lead, mentor, and develop a team of Legal Solutions Architects who collaborate across the firm to deliver innovative legal technology solutions. If you are energized by analyzing legal workflows, championing emerging technologies like generative AI, and leading a high-performing team to deliver measurable client value, this role offers an opportunity to help define the future of legal operations.

Job Description:

What you would do:

  • Partner directly with practice groups, attorneys and consulting professionals, and clients to identify opportunities where digital tools, automation, and AI-enabled capabilities can create competitive advantages and improve efficiency, quality, and client outcomes
  • Design, build, test, and maintain AI agents and AI-assisted workflows for legal processes, translating legal knowledge into scalable digital solutions
  • Lead training sessions, workshops, and individual coaching for attorneys and legal consultants at all levels, serving as an internal champion for AI tools by responding to questions, troubleshooting issues, and sharing best practices to drive adoption
  • Develop, test, and maintain a library of optimized prompts for legal workflows, applying prompt engineering best practices and version control while gathering user feedback to continuously improve output quality
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing, multidisciplinary team of Legal Solutions Architects, providing mentorship, feedback, and accountability while fostering professional growth and team engagement
  • Monitor developments in legal technology and AI, evaluate emerging platforms, and participate in the firm's AI governance committees and pilot programs to help shape the firm's innovation strategy
  • Support special projects and perform other duties as assigned

What is expected:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and diplomacy skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in a virtual environment (e.g., via phone, web/videoconference)
  • Ability to concentrate on tasks, make decisions and work calmly and effectively in a high-pressure, deadline-oriented environment
  • Demonstrated ability to use good judgment in taking initiative while asking for direction or clarification and consulting others, as appropriate
  • Willingness to be flexible with time and adjust to a changing work environment
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally, while maintaining a client service orientation in a collaborative environment
  • Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with highly confidential information
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgment in varied situations

What we offer:

  • Flexible working environment for work-life success
  • Opportunity to participate in firm-sponsored volunteer events
  • Wellness programming with personalized content and activities
  • Professional environment and the opportunity to work with experts at the top of their fields
  • Variety of health plan options, as well as dental, vision and 401(k) plans
  • Generous paid time off

The anticipated initial annual salary range for someone who is hired into this position is $215,133.33 - $248,466.66.

Actual initial salary may be above or below the above-identified range and will be based on the relevant skills, training, experience, and other job-related factors, including the location where the position is filled, in all cases consistent with applicable law. This is an exempt role and the initial salary range listed above is just one component of Faegre Drinker's total compensation and benefits package for professional staff, which includes, but is not limited to, a discretionary bonus; life, health, accident, and disability insurance; and a 401(k) plan.

What is required:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school with active bar membership in good standing, plus a minimum of seven years practicing law in a law firm, legal services organization, or professional environment
  • Minimum of five years of people leadership or team development experience, whether through direct management, mentoring, coaching, training, or guiding work and holding team members accountable for delivery outcomes
  • Demonstrated interest or practical experience in legal technology, innovation, legal operations, or process improvement, paired with a genuine curiosity about how AI and automation can transform legal practice
  • Experience with legal technology platforms such as document automation, knowledge management systems, or workflow automation tools; strong preference for practical experience with Harvey or comparable legal specific AI platforms
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and relationship management skills with the ability to translate complex legal and technical concepts for diverse audiences, from attorneys to engineers to clients
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate legal processes and identify operational and technology-enabled improvement opportunities
  • A collaborative mindset and ability to thrive in a fast paced, matrixed environment, managing multiple initiatives simultaneously while building strong relationships across practice groups, technology teams, and innovation functions
