Job description

WIN Waste Innovations is looking for a Legal Counsel. They will work closely with the General Counsel, appropriate U.S. business units and senior management as necessary to support the company's business objectives. This position is heavily contracts-focused and requires strong attention to detail and excellent drafting and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate, draft and review acquisition and divestiture agreements.
  • Negotiate, draft, and review a high volume of commercial agreements including sales, waste disposal, rail transport, IT, procurement, services, and real estate agreements.
  • Provide legal support as needed to all corporate departments, including finance and accounting, operations, energy, environmental compliance, sales and marketing, and human resources and to the facilities.
  • Assess risk in connection with customer, vendor, operations, industry and/or business issues and advise management on appropriate response/action.
  • Manage outside counsel as necessary.
  • Assist and manage complex contract negotiations and various corporate transactions.
  • Assist in various projects and initiatives, as needed.
  • Maintain positive work environment by acting and communicating in a manner so that you get along with customers, clients, vendors, co-workers and management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, law degree, and law license in good standing.
  • 2-4 years' experience as an attorney in a top-tier law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation experience; detail-oriented with excellent follow-through.
  • Motivated, high-energy individual with an enthusiasm for learning and a positive attitude.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including ability to communicate complex, challenging issues in a clear manner to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability and willingness to work independently, take initiative and manage multiple tasks to provide effective and timely legal advice.
  • Commercially oriented attorney with a practical, business-minded approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to use judgment and discretion to analyze facts and draw conclusions independently and efficiently, and a willingness to take ownership of one's legal conclusions.
  • Poise and personality to work with, and persuade, when necessary, people at all levels of the company, including executives, operational employees, third-party vendors, and outside counsel.
