Job description

  • Keep cases organized by establishing and organizing files; monitoring calendars; meeting deadlines; documenting actions; inputting information into file database and case management software; and confirming case status with the attorney.
  • Helps develop cases by maintaining contact with people involved in the case and generating progress reports.
  • Keeps clients informed by maintaining contact; and communicating case progress.
  • Supports case preparation by preparing case summaries and organizing materials for case review.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Assist counsel by preparing relevant legal documentation.
  • Ensure that court forms are accurate and completed in a timely manner.
  • Draft various types of legal documentation, including, basic motions, affidavits, etc. as assigned by legal counsel.
  • Obtain further information where necessary to ensure comprehensive legal documentation is prepared.
  • Draft correspondence.
  • Maintain file information in both hard copy and electronic format.
  • Assist with the preparation for trials and various legal proceedings and hearings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills

  • 2+ years’ working experience as a legal assistant
  • Two-year degree or equivalent certification
