Role Description The Trusts and Estates Legal Assistant is a full-time, on-site position based in Roseland, NJ. This role supports attorneys in the Trusts and Estates practice by preparing and organizing legal documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and estate administration materials. Daily responsibilities include managing case files, maintaining calendars, coordinating meetings, tracking deadlines, and assisting with client communications. The legal assistant will help gather and organize financial and personal information from clients, prepare correspondence and court filings, and ensure documents are properly executed and filed. The role also involves general administrative support such as data entry, maintaining electronic and physical records, and collaborating with other team members to facilitate efficient case management.

Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in Law and understanding of Trusts and Estates principles, with experience supporting Legal Assistants or similar roles.
  • Proficiency in Legal Document Preparation, including drafting, formatting, and reviewing wills, trusts, and related estate documents.
  • Excellent Communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with clients, attorneys, and court personnel.
  • Demonstrated Administrative Assistance skills, including file management, scheduling, data entry, and handling confidential information with discretion.
  • Prior experience in a law firm or legal environment, particularly in Trusts and Estates, is strongly preferred.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational abilities, and capacity to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with legal practice management software and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
