JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Unified Government Legal Department experiences a range of exciting opportunities unusual in today's legal profession. Our attorneys interact with and provide legal opinions to elected officials, the County Administrator, and UG and BPU staff. Our team exists to provide quality and cost effective legal and related services for its client: the unified city and county government, the Board of Public Utilities, as well as many other boards and commissions. We handle or monitor litigation filed against or on behalf of the UG, BPU, or its representatives. We review and prepare contracts and draft and review policies, ordinances, and resolutions. We handle claims and tax appeal cases and conduct delinquent tax sales. We acquire property through eminent domain process, and we prosecute all violations of city ordinances in Municipal Court.
And we do all of this in a collaborative environment that provides a second-to-none work experience with NO billable hours! We are excited to announce that we are adding to our team of legal professionals. We are seeking a quality candidate who will serve as the Legal Advisor to the Wyandotte County Sheriff's Office. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to handle labor and employment matters, review contracts, represent the Sheriff's Office in civil litigation, create and provide legal training for law enforcement, and provide the Sheriff general advice and counsel regarding detention and jail matters.

Salary Range:
