Job description

Shulman Rogers is seeking a highly organized and professional Legal Administrative Assistant to join our Baltimore office. The Legal Administrative Assistant will provide direct administrative support to attorneys, handling document preparation, calendaring, billing, and client communication.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Drafts and proofreads legal documents, including all types of pleadings and correspondence.
  • Manages and organizes case files ensuring all relevant documents, including discovery, are properly filed and easily accessible.
  • Coordinates with clients, court personnel, and other parties.
  • Handles electronic filing (e-filing) and service of court documents in both state and federal courts in Maryland, DC, and Virginia.
  • Schedules and coordinates meetings, depositions, hearings, and other appointments. Assist with hearing preparation.

Qualifications and Skills:
  • 5+ years of assistant/secretarial or administrative support experience in a commercial litigation department/practice.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • E-filing of pleadings in both state and federal courts in Maryland, DC and Virginia.
  • Knowledge of legal procedures, terminology, and court rules related to litigation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort and skill in speaking with clients.
  • Proficient in technology, Microsoft Office (and in particular expertise in Microsoft Word) and document management software (experience in iManage a plus), and able to effectively use other litigation software.
