Department Information: The Department of Physics & Engineering currently offers a BS in Physics, a BS in Engineering (with optional concentrations in Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering, Engineering Management, Petroleum Engineering, and Energy and Power).
Position Description: The Department of Physics and Engineering at California State University Bakersfield accepts applications on an ongoing basis for our pool of part-time lecturers.
Applicant pools are used to fill short-term temporary Lecturer positions across our campus with the possibility of rehiring. Appointments may last from one day to a whole semester. This applicant pool may be used to fill vacant positions on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year. Applications in this pool ad will only be good for the current academic year. This pool will be closed effective May 31st. If you wish to be considered for the next academic year, you will need to apply to the new pool as it becomes available by June 15th.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Applicants must hold a Bachelor's degree in any engineering field with sufficient professional experience, OR a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in any engineering field with appropriate academic credentials.
- Applicants must demonstrate a proven ability to teach both lecture courses and laboratory sessions effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Applicants hold a Ph.D. degree in some specific engineering fields (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering) with appropriate academic credentials.
Rank and Salary: Lecturer and salary is dependent upon educational preparation and experience. Position's appointment is subject to budgetary authorization.
The salary schedule information for the Lecturer - Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges:
Lecturer AY (Range 2) - $5,507 - $6,677
Lecturer AY (Range 3) - $6,221 - $13,224
Lecturer AY (Range 4) - $6,825 - $14,523
Lecturer AY (Range 5) - $8,593 - $15,211
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. Salary will be pro-rated for part-time assignments.

Background Check: A background check (including a criminal records check) must be satisfactorily completed. The person will also have a duty to report to the Campus Title IX Officer information pertaining to discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct or exploitation, dating or domestic violence, stalking, and retaliation under the CSU Interim Nondiscrimination Policy.
Clery Act: CSUB's annual crime report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus centers, such as our Antelope Valley Satellite Campus, and on property within, or immediately adjacent to and accessible from CSUB.
