JOB SUMMARY:
The Equipment Maintenance Sewing & Cutting / Spreader Technician provides preventive maintenance and repairs to Employment Support Services (ESS) sewing machines and other associated production equipment machinery. Provides specialized knowledge of maintaining the automatic cutter & the spreading machines. This includes PM's, troubleshooting and working with Lectra / Gerber's technicians for maintaining and keeping the equipment running and in very good standing. Assists in other routine maintenance activities at the Smyth, Twin, and Wythe facilities. This position will be located at the Wythe ESS.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. In cooperation with the appropriate facility personnel, develop and implement a schedule of preventive maintenance on all designated equipment, sewing & cutting / spreading equipment.
  2. Provide for the preventive maintenance and repairs of sewing machines, cutter & spreaders and other production-related equipment used at all 3 IDC facilities.
  3. Keep appropriate facility personnel informed of parts needed for equipment and assist as requested in the sourcing and purchasing process. Working with Lectra / Gerber technicians when needed.
  4. Assist as requested in performing routine maintenance of facility and associated equipment at all 3 facilities. Head up maintaining cutting & spreading equipment PM's & Maintaining the in excellent working condition.
  5. Participate in meetings held for a variety of purposes including production, in-service training, etc.
  6. Participate in the agency's accident-prevention program and actively promote safe practices in the delivery of services and manufacturing of products. Assist management in determining & training cutter / spreading operators to ensure safety with equipment is maintained.

OTHER DUTIES:
  • Perform such other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of sewing machine mechanics & cutting / spreading equipment
  • Basic mathematics/measurements
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to work alone with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work as part of a team to achieve a common goal

Minimum Requirements
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION REQUIRED:
High school diploma or equivalent education and/or experience.
