Job Description Summary:

Faegre Drinker has an opportunity for a Benefits & Leave Administrator to work within our Talent department in our Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Fort Wayne, Chicago, Denver, Washington D.C., or downtown Indianapolis office. You will be part of a dynamic team dedicated to administering the firm's leave of absence programs, workers' compensation processes, and health and welfare benefits. This position will work with other talented individuals who share a passion for doing great work in the best interest of our clients.

Job Description:

What you would do:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert on federal, state, and local leave laws and administer leave programs including family and medical leave, short- and long-term disability, parental leave, and personal leaves of absence.
  • Work closely with the Director of Benefits, Talent Team members, Payroll, labor counsel, and external vendors, to ensure benefits and leave programs are delivered accurately, consistently, and with a high level of service.
  • Provide training and guidance to people managers and Practice Group Directors to promote a consistent, compliant approach to leave-related employee interactions.
  • Oversee day-to-day administration of workers' compensation claims, including matters not connected to leaves of absence, in partnership with the firm's workers' compensation vendor and in compliance with applicable laws.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, life, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, wellbeing programs, and parental and family benefits.
  • Other duties as assigned

The anticipated initial annual salary range for someone who is hired into this position is $92,700 - $103,600.

Actual initial salary may be above or below the above-identified range and will be based on the relevant skills, training, experience, and other job-related factors, including the location where the position is filled, in all cases consistent with applicable law. This is an exempt role and the initial salary range listed above is just one component of Faegre Drinker's total compensation and benefits package for professional staff, which includes, but is not limited to, a discretionary bonus; life, health, accident, and disability insurance; and a 401(k) plan.

What is required:

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 5 to 7 years of leave administration experience, including strong knowledge of federal, state, and local leave laws such as FMLA, DCFMLA, CFRA, CA PFL & SDI, CO FAMLI, NJ FLA & TDI, NY DBL & PFL, DE PFML, MPL, and ADA.
  • 5 to 7 years of benefits administration experience with an in-depth understanding of laws and regulations governing employee benefit plans, including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, and ACA.
  • Experience with Workday preferred.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment that requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
