As a Banking Consulting Intern, you will work across business, technology, and management consulting engagements, gaining valuable exposure to multiple facets of the financial services industry. With consolidation, regulation, technological advances, and significant market level changes shaping the landscape, interns can gain valuable experience and exposure to different aspects of the industry.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Apply personal and corporate knowledge to tailor solutions and build partnerships, empowering clients to gain competitive advantage in their markets.
  • Support business and technology executives to solve key challenges within the financial services industry early on in your career through research, analysis, collaboration, and problem solving.
  • Gain exposure to one or more of the following segments:
    Commercial Banking
    • Commercial lending and leasing operating model optimization, small business administration (SBA) lending, equipment finance, alternative business lending, agricultural lending, and farm credit
    • Treasury management
    • Risk, regulation, and compliance
    • Mergers and acquisitions

    Retail Banking
    • Branch optimization, payments processing management, merchant and card services, and loyalty programs
    • Consumer lending and leasing, mortgage, and home equity

    Banking Technology and AI Enablement
    • Technology, data, and platform modernization supporting digital transformation across banking
    • AI use case identification and implementation to improve banking processes and decision-making

    Wealth Management
    • Client & Advisor Experience - Digital experiences, advisor enablement, and personalized engagement
    • Business & technology transformation through operating model optimization
  • Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, synthesize complex information, and support data-driven recommendations for clients, exercising sound judgment in evaluating outputs.
  • Apply AI technologies (e.g., generative AI, automation tools, data models) to enhance insights, improve delivery efficiency, and elevate the quality of client outcomes.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in progress, with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and August 2028
    • You will be asked to confirm your expected graduation month and year at the offer stage and prior to beginning your internship
    • We do request & review official transcripts from your school prior to the start of our internship program
    • If your expected graduation date falls outside of this range or changes, you are not eligible for this internship
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without limitation or sponsorship now or in the future (e.g., OPT, H-1B visa, TN, etc.)
  • Reside within 50 miles of your assigned office prior to your start date; our culture emphasizes team collaboration within a hybrid work model
  • Ability and willingness to travel (up to 50%); travel expenses covered by West Monroe
  • Experience integrating AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) into day-to-day workflows to enhance productivity and insight generation, coupled with strong critical thinking to assess accuracy, mitigate bias, and ensure high-quality outputs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and applying data to analyze business problems

Based on pay transparency guidelines, the pay rate for this role is $40.00.
